Choral Music/Music Theory

Welcome to Choral Music at Spring Hill High School. We base our program upon two simple tenets:

1.  Music is for everyone!
2.  All students can benefit from a choral curriculum based upon the
     National Music Standards:
a. Singing, alone and with others, a varied repertoire of music
b. Playing instruments, alone and with others, a varied repertoire of music
c. Improvising melodies and variations
d. Composing and arranging music
e. Reading and notating music
f. Listening to, analyzing and describing music
g. Evaluating music and music performed
h. Understanding relationships between music, other arts and
            disciplines outside the arts
i. Understanding music in relation to history and culture

The Spring Hill High School Choral department puts on five concerts each school year as a vital part of the curriculum. In addition to the choral concerts, the Spring Hill High School Choral Department also hosts an Evening of Cabaret to showcase the vocal talents of our students performing their favorite pop, country and Broadway songs. Also, during second semester, students that choose to compete vocally in the Regional Solo and Ensemble Festival receive vocal coaching to prepare solos for contest. Spring Hill High School Choirs have twice been selected to perform at the prestigious Carnegie Hall Stage in New York City. The first performance was in June of 2002, and most recently in June of 2006.

What's happening in the Choral Department?

It's that time of year - Fa la la la!   We are currently preparing for our Winter Concert to be held on December 14th at 7:00 p.m.  Although it is not yet Halloween, the students are embracing the songs of the Holiday Season!  Madrigals and Destiny will be out and about in the community spreading Holiday Cheer, so come on out and see us!  We love our groupies!!

Check out the choral activities page for more detailed information on the individual choirs and to see our calendar for the remainder of the year.
