Senior English (English 4) incorporates 21st Century skills, along with practical skills in reading (British and world literature and non-fiction articles), technical and academic writing, speaking, listening, and problem-solving. Through activities appealing to various learning styles, students will develop effective planning and communication skills appropriate to the work environment and college. Activities will include constructing a portfolio containing personal reflections, a transcript, a Personal Code, and examples of academic excellence. Students will conduct a research project that includes creating, planning, database research, and writing. Students will then present their research through a speech, which incorporates various forms of technology. Students will also learn to develop and will practice self-management and interpersonal skills. Weekly assignments can be found on Google Classroom.

During the fall semester, seniors will be studying British literature from the Anglo-Saxon, Middle Ages, and Renaissance periods. They will also study historical background on each of these periods. Students will create journal entries and essays over various works of literature. Students will listen to, read, and discuss Shakespeare's play, Macbeth. Students will also view various video clips of scenes and discuss the interpretations of the different video clips. They will practice note taking and work on test taking skills through quizzes and tests.  Students finish the semester with a comprehensive semester final.
