Hello My Name Is...

Kelly Ediger

Welcome to my classroom. I have been teaching at the high school since 2006, and have thoroughly enjoyed my time spent working with our students. Currently, I teach both English I and English II (freshmen and sophomores). My goal is to help students develop a love of reading. I try to find ways for students to make personal connections to the literature we read though the analysis of themes, characters, and other literary devices. I also do my best to choose materials that will spark students’ interest and keep them engaged.

Another focus of both English courses is on writing. Students will write one formal essay each quarter, which involve research, literary analysis, and persuasive techniques. Students are taught how to outline an essay, structure it properly, and use appropriate grammar and language for the audience they are writing to.

Along with essays, students are also assessed in a variety of ways. These include tests and quizzes, speeches, group projects, projects including the use of technology, and presentations.

Make sure to check Skyward for upcoming assignments, notes, and grades.
