Welcome back!!!! Here is a short description of the classes I will be teaching this year.

American History

This course will study major historical events of the modern era in American history and analyze how those events shaped thinking and relational patterns of American history with various countries, world leaders, geographical peoples, environmental influences, and governments. We will focus on the American experience with emphasis on the 20th Century. Topics will include: Progressivism, World War I, Jazz Age, Great Depression/New Deal, World War II, Cold War, Korean Conflict, Vietnam, Space Exploration, Civil Rights, and Modern Conflict. This course is designed in part to prepare students for admission to a university. Often the student will analyze who, what, when, where, how, and why. This is done in order to relate past events to present day historical movements and conflicts.

Introduction to Sociology

This course is designed to be an introduction of Sociology. Sociology is the scientific study of human social activity. This course will emphasize the methods analysis and perspectives of sociology along with focus on the characteristics of human group life as it relates to the structure of social environment and its influence on the individual. This class will have Freshmen through Seniors and will be discussion based. During this semester students will write 4-5 papers and will participate in numerous group activities. Students need to be sure to stay up to date on their work as each project score can drastically change a students overall grade.

Sociology II

This class is a continuation of Sociology I and having the background knowledge from SOC I is a requirement for admission into this class.  During the semester students will dive deeper in current and historic social issues.  Students will be designing and conducting their own experiments as well as researching historical social experiments. The majority of your students grade will come from written papers and projects.  Due to some of the subjects discussed in this class only Juniors and Seniors may enroll.
