Dear Bronco Parents and Guardians:

The month of November brings changes to the school year. Fall sports complete their successful seasons and we will soon begin the start of winter sports and activities. One notable change starting soon will be Bronco Assistance.

Bronco Assistance Revamp

We fully understand, as a staff, the importance of Bronco Assistance. Our data clearly shows that a built-in time during the school day for academic assistance is extremely important. With that in mind, we have been informed that the current set up of Bronco Assistance will not count towards our academic minutes. If we continue to run Bronco Assistance as is, we will need to either add time to our current school day or add days at the end of the school year. Neither of which are good options. In order to meet the criteria that the Kansas State Department of Education has established, the following adjustments were made to Bronco Assistance, and went into effect on Monday, Nov 1, 2021.

Bronco Assistance will continue to take place on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday during the already established designated time 12:20pm-12:45pm. Students will still be provided the opportunity for academic assistance from their teachers. What will change is the location students can go for social interaction. In the past, students were able to meet in the concourse or hallways. Starting November 1st, students who met the academic criteria, will be able to meet in the commons or upper gym for social interaction. Those students will be required to check-in electronically for attendance purposes. The key is that we are taking attendance and are able to account for the locations our students are at during Bronco Assistance. I really appreciate the support and flexibility of the staff and students as we continue to strive to support our students’ academic needs.

I would like to thank you for attending the parent/teacher conferences. As always, please stay in contact with your students’ teachers and work cooperatively to achieve your child’s academic potential. Skyward Family Access, emails, phone calls and individual meetings are each valuable means to monitor your child’s progress.

Thank you again for the continued support of Spring Hill High School. I wish you a very wonderful Thanksgiving.
