Hello My Name Is...

Mariah Ramos

Hello, and welcome! This is my fifth year teaching at Spring Hill High School. I am originally from Lawrence and I graduated from Emporia State University.  I currently live in Spring Hill, with my husband and our kitties, Leo and Amelia. They're fluffy divas. (The cats, not the husband). I teach Earth/Space Science and Integrated Science.

Earth/Space Science: In this class, we will work to understand how the physical world works and how human interactions affect the planet. We will investigate the physical characteristics of our planet, and will be looking at the interactions between the geosphere, atmosphere, biosphere, and the hydrosphere. This includes topics such as plate tectonics, water, climatatology, earthquakes, and volcanoes, astronomy, and geologic time.

Integrated Science: This class blends the highlights of physics, chemistry, environmental science, and earth science. At its heart, this class aims to address the everyday science that we encounter. Topics usually covered include Newton's Laws of Motion, circuits, food chemistry,  flood-proof housing, oceans, mining, and other environmental topics. Students will also have the opportunity to practice 3-D printing and soldering.
