Algebra 2

Algebra 2 will be a brand new experience this year as we are moving into a more rigorous approach to an age old course.  Student's should expect to open their minds to finding solutions to all levels of problems.  Working backwards will help students learn to find errors but will also help to master concepts.  Students should expect approx 30 minutes of homework each night in Algebra 2.

Chapter 5 - Polynomials & Polynomial Functions

  • Polynomial Function (Factors, Roots, & Zeros)

  • Dividing Polynomials

  • The Binomial Theorem


Chapter 6 - Radical Functions & Rational Exponents

  • Roots & Radical Expressions, Rational Exponents

  • Solving Square Root & Other Radical Equations

  • Function Operations,Inverse Relations, & Graphing


Chapter 7 - Exponential & Logarithmic Functions

  • Exponential & Logarithmic Functions & Equations

  • Properties of Logarithms & Natural Logarithms


Chapter 8 - Rational Functions

  • Inverse Variation, Reciprocal Functions, & Rational Functions and their graphs

  • Operations of Rational Expressions & Solving Rational Equations


Chapter 10 - Quadratic Relations & Conic Sections

  • Exploring Conic Sections & Their Properties: Parabolas, Circle, Ellipses, & Hyperbolas


Chapter 9 - Sequences & Series

  • Arithmetic Sequences & Series

  • Geometric Sequences & Series


Chapter 11 - Probability & Statistics

  • Probability, Permutations & Combinations


It will be EXTREMELY important for students to be prepared every day for class. This includes having a pencil, paper, taking notes, calculators, text books, etc.  Students should expect to have a new concept for practice each day, therefore approx 20-30 mintues of homework.  Don't wait until the last minute! Prepare everyday for the next and review constantly.  Come in for help BEFORE you get overwhelmed! 

Opt Out: Student's must have an 90% and complete all final review materials at 80% or better.

**Note to parents and students: The final for the fall semester is a CUMULATIVE FINAL.  Students should be constantly reviewing all third and fourth quarter material as they learn new material throughout the second semester of school.**
