Dear Spring Hill High School Parents/Guardians and Students,

With our extended break from classes, everyone at SHHS is excited to continue the school year with our continuous learning plan. It is our hope to make this plan as easy and stress free as possible. Teachers are creating weekly or bi-weekly lessons with the intent to maintain or improve upon skills already taught this year. These lessons were created using guidance from the Kansas State Department of Education and will address core skills with minimal materials needed for completion.

Beginning Monday, March 30, lessons will be posted to Google Classroom by 8:30 am. Each lesson should take no more than 20 to 30 minutes a day, with each day requiring no more than 2-3 hours of time. Each lesson should indicate its due date and students are responsible for submitting work within the required timeframe. Not every class will have an assignment each day. Classes such as Math and ELA will have two lessons a week. Electives, Social Studies and Science will have one to two assignments a week. Your weekly schedule should go as follows:

Monday: By 8:30 am, Math, ELA, Science and Elective classes will post lessons.  Any assignments for the lessons will include due dates.

Tuesday: No new lessons posted. Students should use the day to get assistance with their assignments, finish work assigned on the previous day or catch up if they were ill or had other extenuating circumstances that prevented them from working on lessons from the previous day. Teachers will provide information to students about how they can be contacted for help with assignments or questions on Google Classroom.

Wednesday: By 8:30 am, Math, ELA, Social Studies will post lessons. Any assignments for the lesson will include due dates.

Thursday: Same as Tuesday, no new lessons posted.  A day for students to work on assignments.

Friday: Advisory class “meetings” on Fridays. Students’ advisory teachers will post to Google Classroom what this meeting will look like. This is an opportunity for students to keep in contact with their advisory teacher and classmates to lessen the isolation they may be feeling and provide a social network outside of their home.

For those requiring paper copies of assignments due to no internet access, your assignments will be placed outside the main doors of Spring Hill High School every Monday. The table will be set up from 11:00a.m.-1:00p.m.  Assignments will have your students' names on them. When completed, assignments can be returned the following Monday, between 11:00a.m.-1:00p.m., at the packet pick up location outside Spring Hill High School.

It is suggested that these lessons/assignments are broken up across the day/week, but please design a schedule that works for your family.

We are here to help you and your students! Please contact your teachers with questions specific to their respective class subject. Teachers will be available from 7:45 a.m.-3:45 p.m. every weekday. Even though the teachers are not physically in the building, they are still available to assist their students. They will be answering their email on a daily basis. General questions can be emailed to shhs-info@usd230.org.

We want our parents/guardians and students to know that I and the entire SHHS staff will greatly miss our face-to-face interaction but see this learning plan as a way to continue this interaction in a different way.

I appreciate your patience as we start this new process on Monday and as always, Mr. Shea, Mr. Howard and I welcome any questions or concerns you may have.

BRONCO PRIDE continues…. even at home!!

Respectfully,

Marc Williams
